Lion Hunting

Whispering Pine Outfitters, LLC offers lion hunting during the months of January, February, and March all in the Rocky Mountains of Northwest Colorado. These hunts are scheduled for six days with modern accommodations at our lodge. All meals are provided during your stay and prepared by our own cook.

Lion hunting is weather dependent and it helps if the hunting guest can be somewhat flexible on hunting dates for optimum success. This hunt can be physically demanding and clients are encouraged to be in good physical condition. Depending on weather and location of the hunt, snowmobiles, horses, or walking will be used in tracking and pursuit of the lion. Once fresh tracks are found, the dogs will be turned loose to tree the lion.

Hunting will be on private and/or on BLM lands. The DOW in management areas determines quotas at the beginning of each year. Once the quota is filled for an area, it is closed to hunting for the season. Due to this, it is normally better to hunt in January and the first two weeks of February.
